Saudi Arabia has surpassed India as the world's largest arms importer in the Middle East region. Saudi Arabia arms imports jumped 54 percent last year to US $6.5 billion, followed by India with $5.8 billion, according to documents released Sunday (8/3) by a research institute IHS world arms trade. Imports of Saudi Arabia is expected to rise again to $ 9.8 billion this year, according to IHS, based on the delivery schedule of weapons.
